Sanjeev Uppaluri, a fifth grader at Fulton Sunshine Academy placed third in the national finals of the National Geographic Bee

Sanjeev Uppaluri, a fifth grader at Fulton Sunshine Academy in Roswell, placed third in the national finals of the National Geographic Bee May 22 hosted by "Jeopardy!" personality Alex Trebek in Washington, D.C.

Sanjeev Uppaluri was the youngest student in the top 10 at 2013 nationals, and he received $10,000 as a scholarship from National Geographic Society.

Junior FLL Team of Fulton Sunshine Academy, Pouncing Pandas receives Master Programmer Award in International World Festival Expo Robotics Competition!

Fulton Sunshine Academy Junior FLL Robotics Team, Pouncing Pandas received Master Programmer Award in the International Robotics Competition called World Festival Expo. Fulton Sunshine Academy students, Mohana Malapti, Aliya Heinisch, Varun Vijay, Nishanth Chandran were 4 of the 10,000+ students from around the globe travelled to St. Louis, MO to compete in well respected world-wide Robotics competitions.

Fulton Sunshine Academy student, Sanjeev Uppaluri is Geography Bee Georgia State Champion!

Sanjeev Uppaluri placed first at the 2013 Georgia State Geographic Bee competition held on Friday, April 5, 2013 at  Georgia College (GCSU) in Milledgeville,GA after a four-hour contest that included 90 state finalists from across the state. He will represent Georgia State at the National Geography Bee on May 22, 2013 in Washington, D.C.

Fulton Sunshine Academy Destination Imagination Team receives 1st Place in State Tournament and Team Advances to Global Finals in May!

Congratulations to the Fulton Sunshine Academy Destination Imagination - Panda Power team, who won 1st place for the In the Zone Team Challenge on Saturday, March 23rd at the State Tournament held at Duluth High School! The team advances to the Global Finals in Knoxville, TN at the University of Tennessee on May 22 – 25. The team is comprised of 2 - 5th graders, Akash Bhatt and Prajwal Vedula and 3 - 3rd graders, Viveca Harjani, Kavitha Kuppuswamy and Njeri Lewis, and is coached by Mrs. Lauren Lewis. The team's challenge was to solve a technical challenge where they built vehicles using up to seven different propulsion systems. They were asked to create an original story about the dangers faced by vehicles, told from the point of view of one or more of the vehicles. As they performed, they launched ten (10) vehicles from a Start Zone using 5 different propulsion systems: Electric, Magnetic, Wind-up, Gravity and Pneumatic. In addition, the team placed 3rd place in the Instant Challenge (Spontaneous) problem solving in their category at the Tournament.

The team also won the award for the most creative cake.
