Fulton Sunshine Academy Destination Imagination Team receives 1st Place in State Tournament and Team Advances to Global Finals in May!
Congratulations to the Fulton Sunshine Academy Destination Imagination - Panda Power team, who won 1st place for the In the Zone Team Challenge on Saturday, March 23rd at the State Tournament held at Duluth High School! The team advances to the Global Finals in Knoxville, TN at the University of Tennessee on May 22 – 25. The team is comprised of 2 - 5th graders, Akash Bhatt and Prajwal Vedula and 3 - 3rd graders, Viveca Harjani, Kavitha Kuppuswamy and Njeri Lewis, and is coached by Mrs. Lauren Lewis. The team's challenge was to solve a technical challenge where they built vehicles using up to seven different propulsion systems. They were asked to create an original story about the dangers faced by vehicles, told from the point of view of one or more of the vehicles. As they performed, they launched ten (10) vehicles from a Start Zone using 5 different propulsion systems: Electric, Magnetic, Wind-up, Gravity and Pneumatic. In addition, the team placed 3rd place in the Instant Challenge (Spontaneous) problem solving in their category at the Tournament.

The team also won the award for the most creative cake.
